Bert W. Wasserman Workshop in Law and Finance

Bert W. Wasserman The Bert W. Wasserman Workshop in Law and Finance was established by Craig Wasserman ‘86 in memory and honor of his father, Bert W. Wasserman, a distinguished leader in the field of finance who exemplified the field’s highest professional and ethical standards. The goal of the workshop is to support the study of corporate law and finance by sponsoring workshops and discussion forums for the presentation of current research and the discussion of topical issues in law and finance by faculty from Yale and other universities, government officials and members of the bar.

Bert W. Wasserman served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Time Warner, Inc. from 1990 until his retirement in 1995 and served on the Board of Directors of Time Warner, Inc. and its predecessor company, Warner Communications, Inc. from 1981 to 1995. He joined Warner Communications, Inc. in 1966 and helped guide the growth and dynamic success of that company under the leadership of Warner’s legendary CEO Steve Ross, holding positions as the company’s Chief Financial Officer and a member of the Office of the President among other executive offices held prior to the company’s historic merger with Time Inc. in 1990. Mr. Wasserman had a strong sense of commitment to the public interest and in 1982 he received the Eleanor Roosevelt Humanitarian Award in recognition of his extensive philanthropic activities.

Mr. Wasserman was a 1954 graduate of the Baruch College, on whose Board of Trustees he served from 1981 through 2005, including in the position of President of the Board, was a Certified Public Accountant and received a law degree in 1961 from the Brooklyn Law School. Throughout his career he served as a director of several public companies and non-profit organizations.
